Today a petition was made public condemning the Government's
so-called 'reform' process. Below is an abstract from the petition,
signed by many prominent members of the left. Politically, the centre
right and the far right have been the reform's main critics - at least at a
rhetorical level - with the unions also adding their voices, and now,
taking the lead with the forthcoming strikes. This petition is important in that it is the ruling elite's 'natural constituency' that is now adding its voice - in an organised way - to the movement.
